Hello, My Name is Maxie Sipple Britt I am Married to Thomas Britt. My Father's name is Rufus Sipple, married Lillian Lester, my Grandfather name was Sid Sipple, Married Nora Staten, my Great Grandfather name was Burke Sipple married to Victoria (Cannady or Kennedy). I am so glad to read all about the "Sipple's". We were always told that our Great Great Grandfather came over from German to Ellis Island, New York. Any information for me would be wonderful.

• Peter A Sipple - Sipple is not a very common name in the US either. The original spelling was Sippel and was changed four generations ago, probably due to a mis-spelling in church records. My great, great, grandfather came to the US in 1856 from Alsace Lorraine. I'm in Emmaus Pennsylvania and work for a company named Air Products and Chemicals. I am the oldest of six children, my father was the second oldest of thirteen, and my grandfather would have been the end of the line had he not had his thirteen. • Kyle Sipples - I was searching Lycos to see if my page was listed yet, and I saw an entry for yours. I was curious because my father's name is Peter Sipples. Our surname used to be Sipple, but was changed to Sipples when my family emigrated to the United States. I am told that the name is Irish in origin, and is based on the name of a county or town, but I don't know much more than that. In the U.S., this name is extremely uncommon. • Kathleen Sipple - My name is Kathleen Sipple from Crofton, MD, USA (near Washington D.C.). I thought you might find it interesting that my grandfather's name was Peter Sipple (and was spelled Sippel before it was changed at Ellis Island - at least I think that's how it happened). He came from Germany, but I'm not sure when. Most of the Sipple's that I know live on the East coast of the U.S.A. - mostly in New York and New Jersey (but are spread around a bit more now: CA, TX, CO, FL, DC, Germany, to name a few). As you can probably tell from my first name, I also have Irish blood - my mother is all Irish, and my father is 1/4 Irish (but I believe the `Sippel' part is German). I am the 5th of 6; 4 males, and two females... so there are more `Sipple' families being formed all the time!

• Peter Sipple Rowen - I've seen the U.S Census pages from 1840 and 1850, and they show my Pennsylvania, USA ancestor Peter Sipple as being born in Germany (1840) or France (1850) (does that mean Alsace?) Either way, the Sipple name seems to have come from the Continent, not Britain. There was a Peter Sippel (sic) from Bremen who came through New York City in 1833; don't know if he was my ancestor, but he was the correct age, and surname spellings were often Anglicized by American immigration authorities in those days.   Oliver Sipple, the Vietnam veteran saved Gerald Ford's life in 1975 by deflecting the arm of Sara Jane Moore as she aimed a .38 revolver at the President. In the ensuing media rush, reporters revealed that Sipple was gay. That news resulted in his ostracism from his family. Sipple filed a $15 million suit against seven major newspapers but lost. He died alone of natural causes in 1989, in a dingy San Francisco apartment.

• Larry Eugene Looby - My grand mother was ANNA BARBARA SIPPEL born 22 Nov 1885 in Eau Claire, WI. She was the 7 th child of 12 born to Joseph William Sippel born 8 Jul 1850 in reckenhoffen, Bavaria Germany and Anna Barara Grant (GRAND). Joseph W. Sippel immigrated in 1871 to sauk City Wisconsin and was the child of Peter Sippel and Babara Balz. I'm told that the original Sippel Farm is still in use (house and all) and in original condition. I never would have thought I would ever see a SIPPEL page as searches went empty. I the Eau Claire area there are three separat Sippel families with the other spelling Sipple. • Karl H. Sippel - On May 10, 1525 'Hans Sippel" with four other leaders of the peasant uprising, after they had been tricked to come into the walled-in city of Eisenach (Thuringia/Germany), were publicly hanged in the market squre of Eisenach. This was a great event in the history books of the former DDR . Therefore, a fairly large sized cast iron plaque in memory of these martyrs has been errected by the functionaries of the former DDR. I have a black and white picture of it. Besides that, I have a whole slew of Sippel information..it seems the tribe has its fairytale beginning with the Saxon king Siegesbold. later on a king called Alfred von Suppelsburg (about 1070) emerged 'out of the woods'..as far as I know there are no documents of verification that this was really the beginning of the Sippel tribe (but it makes good story-telling). During the Middle Ages (so it is rumored) a Professor August Sippel supposedly wrote a theses on space travel. Personally, I have copies of church registers going back to the 17th century. My sister, she lives in Kassel/ Germany. collected them during the last twenty, or so, years. If you are interested to have copies of my copies, you would be welcome to have them. Just let me know. • John Sipple - It could be possible that you and my son John (24) share a common Great Great Grandfather. I have only just become interested in family history but can tell you the following: I was born in 1950 at Walthamstow but now live in Torquay devon like my father and grandfather I also have the name john. my father now deceased was born in 1916 so I would expect that my grandfather had to have been born around 1880's - 90's. • M Jones - My gggrandmother was Georganna Sipple listed in 1850 Alexandria Va census as being 16yr old. Her mother was Mary A Sipple. No info on a father. Her brothers were John 19yr, Charles 11yr, and sister Mary 7yr. John and his mother Mary Sipple and John's wife Anna are listed there also in 1860 and 1870 census. My name is Andrea Dori Sippel, and I am a classical musician (violist) currently living in Los Angeles, Ca. I am the daughter of Gerhardt John Sippel (born Aug 27, 1922 in Norden, Ostfriesland, which is in north Germany on the Dutch border). I have three brothers: John, Gary and Robert. My father is the son of Johannes Sippel, born Mar 29,1896 in Ostfriesland.. My grandfather's parents were Elisabeth (birth mother) and Johann Sippel, who were from Mainz. My grandfather was raised by his stepmother and had numerous brothers and sisters, some of whom went to Argentina and Brazil (I met cousins in Sao Paolo twenty years ago -- very funny, very feisty people-- who told me that while my grandfather was fairly angry with his father and therefore moved to New York, their father, my grandfather's brother, was even angrier and therefore moved much father away, to Brazil! I hate to think of what might have gone on with the people who moved to Argentina...) One of my grandfather's brothers was a chef, another, named Heinrich, remained in Ostfriesland. My grandfather flew a biplane for Germany in World War I; his sister Martha was a nurse in that war. • Fred Krauss - I am lookng for anyone that could help me find any information on Katherine Maisch/Krauss/Sipple my Great Great Grandmother. She was born in June 1857 in Germany and immigrated to the United States around 1882 and lived in Aroura Illinios until her death in January 14th, 1909. She married around 1885 Fred John Krauss also from Germany. Fred Krauss born abt 1854 died before 1900 and Katherine remaried Louis Sipple February 24, 1903. • Robert Sipple - I really don't know to much behind the Sipple name except that my dad Albert Sipple was from Kentucky in the U.S. He had 1 brother named Ernest who had 1 son named Larry. • Jason Sipple - Well, Idon't know much at all about my Sipple line...but I am sure it all revolves around the Delaware/Pennsylvania area. Not much is given from my grandfather (William C. • Bill Collins - Well, sorta another Sipple, as I have a descent from a Hannah Sipple, b.1745 in Pennsylvania, who married John Tawney and lived in Frederick County, Maryland, then in Adams County, Pennsylvania. • James R. Sipple - From what I was told, SIPPLE was original GERMAN, and they migrated over to the U.S. They had later become most famously known as PENNSYLVANIAN DUTCH people. I live in South Carolina now with my parents DONNA and GERALD R. SIPPLE. I have two brothers living in PA yet, their names are John and Gerald Jr. They both have 2 children. My father has only one sister that had carried that last name of SIPPLE and she has been married a few times. It was explained to me that someone in the family tree had really been fruitful and multiplied. Since then, I was told by almost all my relatives that there were two was to determine if someone was of the family tree. 1. If they have the last name of "SIPPLE" they are most likely related at about a 95% chance. 2. Everyone on my fathers "SIPPLE" side of the family have these curious little trademarks. Either one or both sides of the neck, just underneath the base of the ear is a little bump. If you place your head on your shoulder, and feel the exposed area of the neck, you should feel a bump. This bump is actually an inverted gland that everyone has, but is most prominent in the sipple family to be exverted, rather turned around so that it sticks out. Not everyone has a prominent bump, but if you can feel it, and you'll know when you find it, please let me know. If you definately feel it, your definately related. Howd'y cous'! I like this site. • John P. Spires - My great great grandfather was Henry John Sipple (or Sippel). He was born in Hamburg, Germany and immigrated circa 1840. His wife, Anna Elizabeth Wagner, was born in Darmstadt, GR. They were married in New Yorkand moved to the Shenandoah Valley area of VA. There five children were born there. They moved from VA in a covered wagon and went to St. Clair Co., IL, near Belleville. It was slow going. The trip took eleven months. They took the wrong route in Indiana and ended up in Iowa. Had to turn back into Indiana to pick up the right trail. Enroute their yougest child, Levi, died of exposure. He was buried in a homesteader's yard in Indiana. One of their daughters, Anna Elizabeth, dob: 3/6/1846, married my great grandfather, George August Frick, of Hecker, IL in April 1865. • James Dale Sipple - Hi,born 1947 in Elgin Illinois U.S.A. Father George was also US born but his father was from Germany. I was also told about the Sippel spelling. I am an automotive training instructor and have been in this field 33 years I have one sister Sally and have been married 33 years to Kathleen. We have no children but two dogs..( normal in US ). I'll read what you've put together on the site and then I'll know moreI am the fifth generation to live in Dunn County, Wisconsin, US. I was born in 1951, graduated from UW-Stout, and work at 3M-Menomonie. My father William R. farmed in the town of Spring Brook. Born: April 17, 1926 Died December 20, 1968. My grandfather William A. was born in 1880 and died in 1960 His father Peter was born, I think in Pennsylvania in the 1850's. His father Conrad was born in the 1830's in Heidelberg, Germany. All four of these men worked al of there adult lives, within two miles from where they are buried. They are buried in the Iron Creek Cemetary. Once they moved here they very seldom traveled more than 25 miles away. Conrad's son Henry sold lubrication oil for Howard Oil, McAllen Texas. Henry's son Emory was an Insurance Saleman. • Nanci Sipple - I need some help. Our sippl's were from Austria, settled in Wisconsin and then a gg uncle moved his family to PA. around 1900. That included him(Frank) his wife Mary and two sons--Frank and Herman. Our family lost track of them and just recently I found the two boys on 1910 census and they were living with a step brother. I guess Frank died, Mary remarried a Mr. Klose and then they both died and the step son was raising the two boys. I found out both boys had died and wrote to the library in PA for their obits but so far nothing. I would like to find out who our relatives are in PA.Frank changed his surname to Sipple. • Jess Matson - My Great Grandmother was conceived on board a ship on the way to Australia. Apparently her father was Captain Sipple, the captain of this ship. It's quite a confusing story actually. We always thought her last name was Seppelt, the name of a wealthy wine family in South Australia where my family has lived for generations. Recently I saw my Grandmother's birth certificate and saw that her mother's maiden name was actually Sipple. Now we don't know whether the Captain's name was Sipple, or whether that was just a romantic story. If you want more exact info I'll get my dad to contact you. • Dana Sipple Vlkojan - Hi, Never before have I been interested in my roots until now, and wouldn't you know.....Can't find a single clue. My father is Donald Charles Sipple from Downingtown, Pa. His mother's name was Erma Sipple (her family name) she had a brother William Sipple and had a half sister, Margaret Balentine and a half brother, George Balentine; I guess!!!!! • Dan Scott - Sipple is a very familiar name for me. My grandfather was Orville Sipple and I enjoyed many Thanksgiving Family reunions with the Sipples. When I was around 17 my Aunt Edith also found another branch of the family in Kentucky. A combined reunion was held with over 200 hundred people attending. Aunt Edith published a book entitled "Deep Roots" which traces the Sipple Geneaology. Most of the Sipples that I know personally live in Southern Ohio in Clermont and Brown Counties. • Katherine Sippel - My grandfather left Eisenach, Germany, in the early 1900's to preach the Good News in the German language to German immigrants. He started in Wisconsin, married and had three sons and three daughters and lived in Washington State and Montana before settling in Vermillion, South Dakota. His children had 23 chidren, 13 being born with the Sippel name. We're in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Texas. I haven't met any Sippel's outside our immediate family, but my dad always looked in the motel phone books on our family vacations to South Dakota! • Daniel Laverne Sipple - Hi, I was born in Erie,Pennsylvania in 1948 to a Milton Laverne Sipple. I have 3 brothers Leonard and Mark and Christopher. From what I understand about the family the Grandfathers and Grandmothers came from Montreal Canada in that area anyway. • Judy Mills - My husbands great-grandmother's name was Bertha Avis (nee Zeppel) also spelt Sippel. Her father was Ferdinand Zeppel who was a musician and her mother was Caroline Luther. She was born in Posen, Prussia in 1859. Bertha had two brothers and one sister, John, Wilhelm and Augusta. The family history is that Bertha was born into a wealthy and talented musical family. Bertha studied music at the Warsaw Conservatorium of Music with pianist Paderewski. Wilhelm was also a talented violinist who also attended the Warsaw Conservatorium of Music. Ferdinand Zeppel also played violin. The Zepple's left Hamburg, Germany on the 30.06.1873 on the ship "Humboldt". They arrived in Maryborough Queensland, Australia on 29.10.1873.
