Welcome to Pete Sipple's Blog

If you're expecting a detailed, inciteful and updated blog of what I'm up to, sadly this isn't the place. Occasional ramblings and other snippets can be found here though

Gervais Podcast is back

The top Podcast is back!

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have teamed up with probably the funniest chap around, Mr Karl Pilkington, to put together a series of podcasts. The first season were available on the Guardian Unlimited website. What's so special about three blokes sitting in a studio chatting? Just give it a listen and find out. If you missed out - note that Series 2 is available now directly from www.audible.co.uk/ricky.. You won't be disappointed!

New IT comedy

Tonight sees a new Channel 4 comedy (from one of the Black Books writing team). Check out The IT Crowd later tonight on 4...

Your country needs Petes

Currently, the world record of the largest collection of people with the same first name gathered in one place, goes to the name Mohammed (1,500 in Dubai). Some chap, called Pete funnily enough, has decided to beat that next year, by gathering 2000 Petes in London in June 2006. Recognition for the name Peter / Pete at last?

His site is at www.thepetecollective.co.uk , and there's a good summary at theregister.co.uk/2005/09/13/pete_record_attempt

If you're a Pete... may see you there in June?

HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy

As you can imagine, I have a smile on my face this month...

The long-awaited Hitchhiker's movie appeared in the UK a couple of days ago. OK - so it's different to the book, radio series and TV show, some of the cast are a little unexpected, and the less said about the Trillian love triangle, the better - but it's actually a rather good film. Plenty for fans like me to get their teeth into, and good enough to get the interest of those not aware of the Douglas Adams legacy.

I'm slighly more excited about something else due in May - the fourth series of the Hitch-Hiker's radio series (3rd May, 6:30pm on Radio 4). Oh, and there's a H2G2 exhibition in central London at the end of the month too. It's at times like this, I wish I'd listened to what my mum told me...

Some H2G2 links at www.radioandtelly.co.uk/hitchhikers.html

Bill Bailey, Part Troll

Cracking night of comedy last night with some chums - Bill Bailey, Part Troll, in London. Special mention to Bill's great live drum-and-bass version of the BBC News 24 theme tune (see http://www.bill-bailey.co.uk/downloads/video.php)

Hitch-Hiker's Radio Series returns 21st September

A quick reminder that the third series of the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series is set to air on BBC Radio 4 on Tuesday 21st Sept at 6:30pm.

The original series was broadcast in March 1978, with the second series first being heard in January 1980. Twenty-four years later, we get to hear the "Tertiary phase", recorded with many of the original series cast.

Create a network of business contacts

Only recently discovered this one - LinkedIn is an online service that allows business professionals to share contacts and make introductions to others in industry - either for networking, skill sharing or recruitment purposes. It's the business equivalent of the social networking service friendster.com.

Signup is free at http://www.linkedin.com

If you know me, I'm on both, so sign up and link up...

21st century rejection & somewhere.com

Two links I didn't want to lose:

Paper napkin - Great way of getting rid of unwanted advances (not that I ever get such offers)

somewhere.com - Have pity on the man that owns this domain!

Equity forum forced to close

The Equity / Regis forum hosted on ConsumerDeals was forced to close in July following a threat of legal action made to our Internet Service Provider, from property management company Mount Street Holdings.

If you object to the idea of a company forcing an Internet Provider to remove a forum in this way, please show your support by signing the petition. I'd really appreciate your support!

Sailing down the Thames

Friday 25th June saw us sailing from Southend to Tower Bridge in a hand-built Catamaran crewed by Carl, Naomi and Walter. A few pics from the day at: http://www.petesipple.me.uk/gallery/thamesjul04
